Founded in 2007, Waggies by Maggie & friends is a nonprofit company in Wilmington, Delaware.  We employ persons with intellectual disabilities and take pride in celebrating their work.  We are a unique business that brings employees and volunteers together for the daily operation of producing dog treats.  Being part of the Waggies team empowers our employees to be successful in their work and active members of the community.

SMILE Biscotti

An entrepreneurial bakery business founded by Matt Resnik, following his graduation from high school in 2013.  SMILE stands for Supporting My Independent Living Enterprise, and was created to help Matt and others like him, who are impacted by Autism, make advancements in life skills development, social connections and pathways toward greater independence.

Furnace Hills Coffee

We're more than just your average coffee company.  We also take pride in our mission: employing the developmentally disabled.  Our first employee, Erin Baldwin, has Down Syndrome. Although she is challenged, she loved to roast coffee and even has her own roast named after her, Erin's Breakfast Blend.  Helping Erin and other like her obtain employment influenced our company motto, "Special Coffee, Roasted by Special People."  To further support the developmentally disabled community, a portion of the sales from our Buddy Walk Blend of Coffee is donated to the National Down Syndrome Society.  Located in Frederick, Maryland.

Once Upon A Crumb Bakery

We are dedicated to cultivating a successful company that focuses on custom, made-to-order cakes, as well as healthy, creative edibles and beverages.  We strive to use the highest quality, locally sourced ingredients to create products that bring the community together.  We are committed to creating job opportunities for individuals with special needs within our community. Located in Sykesville, Maryland.

All About Yarn

Our business started with our hopes for our daughters…  We share both a love of needlework (especially knitting and crocheting) and a desire to help our mentally-challenged daughters to live productive, fulfilling, and independent lives. Having met and gotten to know each other while attending our daughters’ Special Olympics basketball practices, we realized (as we talked and knitted away) that we had much in common.  Located in Ellicott City, Maryland.
